    Tom Aiken

The quick answer: Do not age your Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon past 5 years after release.

The Reason:  95% of the Cabernets coming out of Napa are meant to be consumed within one to five years of their release.

In the US, a Cabernet Sauvignon...

Went to R+D Kitchen in Yountville, CA for lunch a few days ago and had a glass of the Belle Glos Pinot Noir to go along with my awesome cheeseburger. It was the perfect food pairing.

The Belle Glos Pinot (from the Russian River Valley) was exactly like their descriptio...

Nice write up by 7x7. For me, Round Pond and Caymus are two of my favorites. Caymus now requires appointments so plan accordingly.

Try Frog Leap's Chardonnay and Zinfandel. I think they're very good value at their price point.

Quick Review: Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) Rutherford

    Tom Aiken

Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) founded in 1900 by the great Georges de Latour, was once one of the premier wineries in the Napa Valley. I have been very disappointed with their wines for the past 5 or 6 years. Even their Georges de Latour Private Reserves ($90 here) and their...

Nice write up. Some of these wineries went corporate, however some are still some of the Napa Valley's best.

If you love BIG Zinfandels you will definitely want to take a visit to Biale's Vineyards in Napa. I went to Biale a few weeks ago for my birthday and I had a great time and tasted some really good Zin's.

Biale is located just north of downtown Napa and next to An...

I have been a fan of Educated Guess since 2005 (first release). Mark Albrecht (owner) does a really good job sourcing his juice and Berry Gnekow (winemaker) does a fantastic job making really good affordable Cabs. Best year was 2005.

    For $16-$20 a bottle, the 2014 Edu...
