Quick Review: Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) Rutherford

Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) founded in 1900 by the great Georges de Latour, was once one of the premier wineries in the Napa Valley. I have been very disappointed with their wines for the past 5 or 6 years. Even their Georges de Latour Private Reserves ($90 here) and their Tapestry ($45 to $55 here) was drinking subpar for me. So, I stopped drinking their wines until a few weeks ago when I opened a bottle of their 2013 BV Rutherford. Price point here in Northern California is around $20-$25 (Do not spend more then $22) a bottle. To my surprise it wasn't bad and I thought the flavors were nice. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't great, but for the price point it was definitely very drinkable. You will taste some Plums, Dark Cherries, chocolate, tobacco and not a lot of tannins. You can take this wine to a social event and everyone would drink it and not give you the stink eye. :-) Definitely better then Decoy but not as good as the Educated Guess at this price point ($15-$22).
Salute!
